INMET
Center of Digital Modelling and Al in Energy
Center of Digital Modelling and AI in Energy brings together high-performance computing, physics-based simulation, and advanced AI to accelerate innovation in chemical, materials, and energy systems. By bridging fundamental science with practical engineering, we develop data-driven insights, predictive models, and digital tools that support Kazakhstan’s energy transition.
Research areas
Our Centre’s research activities span five strategic directions aligned with national priorities and emerging global challenges:
  • Low-Carbon Technologies in Conventional Energy
  • Industrial Energy Efficiency & Digitalization
  • Nuclear Energy
  • Renewable Energy & Storage
  • Soil and Aquifer Remediation
Together, these research directions contribute to the advancement of chemical, materials, and energy technologies and enable a cleaner, safer, and more efficient energy future.
Equipments
Our research philosophy is grounded in a unified multiscale modelling framework that connects phenomena across length and time scales. We integrate:

Quantum → Atomistic → Mesoscale → Continuum → System-level approaches
Physics-based models enhanced by data-driven and AI-assisted methods

Theory–simulation–experiment coupling to validate models and accelerate discovery

This integrated strategy enables predictive insights into materials behaviour, fluid and solid interactions, and complex engineering processes relevant to energy and environmental applications.

To support these activities, the centre utilises a broad ecosystem of licensed and open-source computational tools alongside high-performance computing (HPC) resources. These include both institutional clusters and external supercomputing facilities, ensuring the capability to run large-scale, high-fidelity simulations across all modelling domains.
